How Women Farmers Access Priority Funding
USDA doesn't have a separate "grants for women" program. Instead, women farmers access priority funding through two main pathways:
1. Beginning Farmer Status
Many women entering farming qualify as beginning farmers (less than 10 years of experience). This unlocks 90% EQIP cost-share, priority ranking, FSA loan reserves, and advance payments. See our full beginning farmer guide →
2. Socially Disadvantaged Farmer Status
Women are specifically included in USDA's definition of socially disadvantaged farmers. This provides additional priority in EQIP, CSP, VAPG, and FSA loan programs — including higher cost-share rates and reserved funding pools.
If you're a woman who's also a beginning farmer, you get both sets of advantages — this can significantly improve your ranking in competitive programs like EQIP and VAPG.
